In Indonesia, we have strengthened our cooperative framework based on the relationships of trust cultivated through a fertilizer project since 1982 for Rekayasa. Recently, relations have expanded to encompass cooperation in oil refinery projects and those performed in a third country. In Iran, our relationship with Petropars, the national engineering company that commissioned South Pars gas field, has been developed to establish a cooperative framework in other gas development projects. |
In Egypt, we have concluded a technical cooperation agreement with ENPPI, an engineering company affiliated with Petroleum Ministry. It has been agreed that petrochemical projects will be pursued jointly in the future.
In China, we have cooperated with numerous design institutes through Toyo-China to improve and expand our areas of activity.
Alliance with licensors -- in the area of hydrocarbon
TOYO has collaborated with the world's leading licensors, which possess petrochemical and ammonia and methanol synthesis technologies, used in upstream plants of urea and DME, which are among the proprietary technologies of TOYO. With this approach, we have sought to improve and expand our business domains.

Responding to demands at a time when plant construction was growing, Early in our history, TOYO introduced the ethylene manufacturing technologies of Lummus of the United States in 1962. Later, in 1968, we concluded an agreement on ammonia synthesis technology with Kellogg (KBR today) of the United States. |
In addition, TOYO has concluded agreements with Dow Chemical and Univation Technologies to introduce polypropylene and polyethylene technologies in downstream petrochemical processes. Consequently, we have constructed manufacturing plants for these products in Japan and overseas.
Alliance and cooperation with general trading companies
TOYO has engaged in numerous construction projects invested by Mitsui & Co., Ltd., as the preferred EPC partner. We intend to expand our business domain to encompass infrastructure plant construction projects for power generation, transportation system, water treatment, etc.
Mitsui has provided capital or loans for numerous projects in Japan and other countries. In recent years, we have been awarded an oil refinery plant for Kyokuto Petroleum Industries, Ltd., Sakhalin II LNG in Russia, oil refinery plant in Brazil, gas processing plant in Iran, etc.
In addition to the above activities, TOYO has participated in overseas construction projects that have involved investments by Mitsubishi Corporation and Marubeni Corporation, developing a substantial reputation in the process. We have also worked with Itochu & Company in upstream development projects for crude oil and gas, building a growing record in this area.
Cooperation with other companies around the world in the same sector
TOYO has conducted a comprehensive study of the products, regions, client characteristics and project scale, and established an effective framework for cooperation with other companies around the world operating in the same sector.
When implementing projects in the Gulf Region of Middle East, where it is difficult to secure construction workers and machinery due to the vigorous facility investment, especially in oil producing countries, TOYO has cooperated with Hyundai Construction of Korea and other construction companies with substantial construction management capabilities, to ensure smooth project implementation. In the meantime, we have taken steps to bolster our business in this region.
In the area of newly participating products, TOYO has sought to expand opportunities by cooperating with experienced contractors. We have formed a joint venture with Chiyoda Corporation for the LNG area and formed a technical alliance with Burns & Roe of the United States in the power generation sphere.
When concluding a FEED agreement for an oil refinery plant, where we have a less extensive track record, TOYO builts a consortium with Foster Wheeler of the United States, among the world's most experienced practitioners.
TOYO has cooperated in two projects with JGC: an oil refinery plant in Vietnam and the South Pars gas field development in Iran. These projects expanding our areas of activities and complement each other.
