Alliances and Partnerships with Clients
Hydrocarbon: alliances and partnerships with oil majors and NOC
The relationship between Exxon Mobil and TOYO was bolstered with the on-schedule completion and the oil refinery plant for Kyokuto Petroleum Industries, Ltd., which was awarded to us in 1992. Since then, we have received a continuous stream of orders for the construction of oil refinery plants, including a series of projects in Japan as well as those built in Singapore and Indonesia for Exxon-Mobil.
In 2003, TOYO took part in the construction of Sakhalin II LNG plant, in which Royal Dutch Shell also had an equity stake. This resulted in adding TOYO to Royal Dutch Shell's contractor list, and we were awarded a petrochemical plant project in Singapore in 2005 and a GTL project in Qatar in 2006.
National corporations of oil producing countries (NOC) usually select a construction company through tender, but TOYO has also received orders for many projects through negotiated contracts.
Among the numerous projects awarded to us are petrochemical plant projects for SABIC of Saudi Arabia (two projects), a fertilizer project for NPC of Iran, gas, oil refinery and gas pipeline projects for Petroleo Brasileiro do Brazil (ten projects in total), an oil refinery project for PDVSA and a fertilizer project for Pequiven , both of Venezuela.
In 2002, TOYO signed an umbrella contract to provide engineering services for five years with Al-Khafji Joint Operations, a joint venture of Saudi Arabian Oil Company and Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KOC).
We have offered an array of services, including case studies, conceptual design, basic design and evaluation of tender documents, on more than 20 occasions. Our work has earned high marks and the contract has already been extended for the second year to enable continuous service provision.

Hydrocarbon: alliances and partnerships with domestic clients
In 2005, TOYO concluded a project management agreement with INPEX Corporation, considered a Japanese oil major, to support the execution of overseas petroleum development projects by dispatching engineers.
It is anticipated that these contracts will lead to additional projects in the future and participation in EPC downstream areas.
In 2006, TOYO concluded a contract for project development and planning related to domestic gas field operation and maintenance with Japan Petroleum Exploration Co., Ltd. (JAPEX). A project is underway that incorporates the new idea of “preventive maintenance.”
Operation and maintenance during petroleum development affects the life (service life) of oil fields. The contract is expected to lead to new projects in the future.
We consistently receive orders for construction work from major petrochemicals, chemicals and oil refinery companies of Japan. We have earned the trust, not only of the group companies Mitsui Chemicals and Tosoh Corporation, but also from Mitsubishi Chemical, Maruzen Petrochemical and other major chemical products makers, as well as from Nippon Petroleum Refining, Idemitsu Kosan, Taiyo Oil and other major petroleum refining companies. As a consequence, TOYO has been involved in the construction of numerous projects.
Industrial systems: alliances and partnerships with clients

In 1994, on the strength of our proposal to improve the distribution system of Tohan Co., Ltd., we were asked to conduct a feasibility study for the project. We continued to receive orders for the subsequent stages, from basic design to plant construction. The achievement can be attributed to TOYO’s capabilities in comprehensive management, from system integration to plant construction. With a proposal-based approach, we seek more business opportunities in the areas of EPC. |
Since the 1990s, TOYO has been heavily involved in providing globalization support for companies based in Japan and the West that are constructing plants overseas. We have offered comprehensive services for project execution, from feasibility studies to site selection, surveys, design, procurement and construction work.
A look at our record shows services being offered in 130 projects for chemical, fine chemical, automobile and many other industries, mainly in China, Eastern Europe, Southeast Asia and the Americas. The successful completion of projects within a short period and at low cost led to the awarding of second-phase or expansion work and other projects by Daikin Industries, Nippon Shokubai and several other clients.
In the field of industrial systems, many of our clients have planned projects in-house. TOYO has participated from the basic planning phase, and has offered support by working closely with the client.
TOYO has formed alliances with clients to proceed with projects from proposals in the initial stage to design, procurement and construction in win-win relationships. We have built close ties with specific clients in diverse areas, including the pharmaceuticals, food, electronic and semiconductor and fine chemical industries.
