Washing Engineering
Summary
With batch plants, improved washability is an important factor in increasing productivity. In pharmaceutical, food and many other industries, there is demand for reliable production of even higher quality. At Multi-Plants in particular, considerable time and labor have been devoted to facility washing when product types and lots are switched. There is a demand for facilities that enable reliable, consistent and simple washing in a short period of time.

Features
To optimize and increase the efficiency of the cleaning process, TOYO not only offers cleaning engineering solutions such as process studies that consider cleaning, equipment selection and line planning, but also endeavors to develop or modify facilities having superior washability, to develop jigs that support the cleaning processes and conducts various types of washing tests.
Experience in technological introduction
Cube valve

In the case of an ordinary ball valve, CIP it is not possible to wash the reverse side of the ball (between the valve body and main body) and there is the risk of contamination. TOYO has developed a cube valve that allows the reverse side of the ball to be washed. |
Adoption of a washer for chutes used for powdery and moist materials

a washer for chutes used for powdery and moist materials The washer was introduced for cleaning chutes used to transmit powdery materials in a Multi-Plant for active pharmaceutical ingredients. The cleaning work is consistent with that done manually, enabling constant and consistent washing and making it possible to validate the washing. |
Bubbling washing test

The photograph shows a test conducted in the process of valve development on washability. The test not only verified that water is passed, but also that bubbling takes place. |
Development of a jig for attaching and detaching valves at the bottom of the vessel

Improvement of washing processes for conical drier
![]() |
To improve the washing processes (assuring worker safety) of the conical driers used at plants that manufacture active pharmaceutical ingredients and chemical products, TOYO proposes improvement measures and designs the equipment to enhance the safety of the washing processes. |
Improvement of the washing processes for the centrifuge basket
To increase the efficiency of the washing processes for conventional centrifuges that do not have washing equipment, which is conventionally used in plants that manufacture active pharmaceutical ingredients and chemical products, TOYO conducts surveys and studies and then implements all the operations from proposing the measures for improvement to conducting the actual improvements.

Implementation and support for various types of washing tests
TOYO implements and offers support for various types of washing validation tests based on the clients' requests or our recommendations. We also conduct tests for validating washability when developing valves and XY Router™ couplers.
Offering of washing consultation services
In the plan to expand the line of a client engaged in chemical manufacturing, TOYO offered advice on process and line designs based on the design documents from the viewpoint of contamination and washability.
Support for cleaning validation
TOYO offered support for the series of tasks from the planning for washing validation to preparation of procedural documents and the establishment of verification methods, when constructing a plant engaged in the manufacture of active pharmaceutical ingredients.
Improvement of the washing process through analysis and simulation
In the plans for constructing or renovating plants that manufacture active pharmaceutical ingredients, chemical products, food products and other items, TOYO analyses the work to identify the issues, and makes proposals for optimum facility planning and improvement using a simulator.
