Styrenics Resin (GPPS, HIPS, SAN, ABS)
Summary
![]() |
The TOYO-MITSUI PS PROCESS is an ideal for the production of styrenics such as General Purpose Polystyrene (GPPS), High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS), Styrene Acrylonitrile copolymer (SAN), and Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene Resin (ABS).This unique process was originally researched and developed by Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. (MITSUI), Japan's pioneer in styrenics polymer production and now the leading styrenics polymer producer in Japan. |
TOYO obtained the patent rights and accompanying know-how of the fundamental styrenics resin (GPPS, HIPS, SAN) production process from MITSUI in 1977 and after incorporating additional TOYO technology completed the TOYO-MITSUI PS PROCESS. Since that time, joint research and development work has been continuing between both companies (TOYO and MITSUI) on the products and processes of GPPS, HIPS, SAN and ABS based on the continuous bulk polymerization technology.
To date, forty-two (42) TOYO-MITSUI polystyrene plants (GPPS / HIPS / SAN / ABS) with a total production capacity of 950,000 tons per year have been operated all over the world. TOYO is prepared to provide plant engineering and licensing services from styrenics resin production to its application technology.
